12 Years of Marketing Support for Royal Billiard & Recreation
End-to-End Digital Platform & Marketing Transformation
Overview
Over a 12-year engagement, I partnered with Royal Billiard & Recreation to transform its digital presence from a basic static website into a fully integrated platform that supported customer acquisition, product discovery, e-commerce, and ongoing marketing efforts.
My role spanned design, front-end development, content strategy, product organization, photography, email marketing, social media, platform management, and digital infrastructure. I owned both the initial build and the long-term evolution of the system, helping the business move from a limited online presence to a more mature and effective digital marketing ecosystem.
The Problem
When I first began working with the business, its digital presence was limited and outdated. The website was static, non-responsive, and did not reflect the quality or scale of the company’s retail operation. Customers had little ability to browse products online, there was no product-level visibility, and the site did not provide a structured way to generate or manage inquiries.
The business also lacked a strong connection between its website, marketing activity, and in-store sales efforts. Digital channels were not being used in a coordinated way, which limited the company’s ability to attract new customers, support product research, and drive foot traffic to the showroom.
As a result, the website was not functioning as a meaningful source of inbound leads or as a true extension of the retail experience.
The Goal
The goal was to turn the company’s digital presence into a reliable driver of business growth. This meant creating a website that could better support customer research, generate inbound calls and inquiries, promote products more effectively, and encourage visits to the retail location.
A major objective was to give customers more visibility into available products before they visited the store. The platform also needed to support future e-commerce capabilities, improve brand credibility, and create a more consistent marketing presence across web, email, search, and social media.
Approach
The project began with the foundation of the website itself. I rebuilt the site from a static online presence into a responsive, content-driven WordPress platform that could grow with the business. This included introducing structured product pages, improving the overall user experience, and creating content that supported both search visibility and customer decision-making.
As the business’s digital needs expanded, the website grew into a much larger product discovery platform. Over time, the site was scaled to include more than 2,000 products, each with dedicated detail pages and embedded lead forms. This gave customers a direct way to ask questions, request pricing, and begin the buying process from specific product pages.
I also connected the website to the company’s broader marketing ecosystem. This included email campaigns through platforms such as Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, along with social media content, Google Business Profile management, and hosting infrastructure. These channels helped create a more consistent and connected digital presence across the business.
Visual content was also a major part of the work. I produced original photography for products, showroom environments, and staff, giving the business a stronger and more authentic visual identity. These images supported the website, email campaigns, social media, and other marketing materials.
Because the engagement extended over many years, the work was not limited to a single redesign or launch. The platform continued to evolve as the business changed. I refined site structure, improved usability, supported campaigns, maintained product content, and adapted the system as new tools and business needs emerged.
Execution
I designed and developed a scalable WordPress-based website that served as the foundation for the company’s digital presence. The site was structured to support a large product catalog, individual product detail pages, lead generation forms, content updates, and future e-commerce functionality.
I also built and maintained the supporting hosting and email infrastructure, ensuring the platform remained stable and functional over time. This included managing technical needs behind the scenes while also handling front-end updates, content changes, and ongoing optimization.
A key part of the execution involved creating a product architecture that could handle thousands of items while still making the site usable for customers. Product pages were organized to support discovery, search visibility, and direct inquiry. Embedded lead forms made it easier for customers to contact the business about specific products, turning the site into a more active sales support tool.
Beyond the website, I managed email campaigns and automation across multiple platforms, led social media content and campaign execution, maintained the company’s Google Business Profile, and produced commercial photography for digital use. This allowed the business to present a more consistent brand across web, email, search, and social channels.
Outcomes
The project transformed the website into a primary source of inbound customer inquiries. Instead of functioning as a static brochure, the site became an active business development tool that helped customers discover products, contact the company, and begin the sales process online.
The expanded digital catalog gave the business product-level visibility across more than 2,000 items. Dedicated product pages and lead forms created a clearer path from online research to direct customer communication.
The improved digital presence also supported growth in showroom traffic and contributed to the business’s move into a larger retail space. As the platform matured, e-commerce capabilities were introduced, allowing the business to generate online sales from a starting point of zero.
Across the engagement, the business established a more professional and consistent marketing presence across its website, email marketing, social media, Google Business Profile, and digital content. The result was a stronger brand presence, better customer experience, and a digital platform that continued to support the business as it evolved.
Constraints
The work was completed within a small team environment, which required balancing strategy, execution, maintenance, and ongoing improvement. I often had to manage immediate marketing needs while also continuing to improve the larger platform over time.
The long-term nature of the engagement also meant navigating legacy systems, changing business priorities, and evolving digital tools. The platform had to remain functional while new capabilities were introduced, which required practical decision-making and steady iteration rather than one-time overhauls.
Reflection
This project required more than a one-time website build. It demanded long-term ownership of a business’s digital ecosystem and a practical understanding of how web, content, photography, email, search, and in-store sales activity work together.
By combining design, development, content creation, marketing execution, and platform management, I helped create a digital system that not only launched successfully but continued to evolve alongside the business. The result was a stronger, more useful, and more scalable digital presence that supported both customer acquisition and long-term business growth.
